Ace has always loved music. It’s in his genes. While his mother sings, plays piano and violin, his grandfather plays the bass guitar, percussion, and owns a record shop. His famous first words were “Ooh, Baby, Baby” from the song "Push It" made popular by the rap group Salt ân Pepa back in the day.
He was born and raised in Oklahoma during the first six years of his life and then moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands where he got his first taste of performing as a member of a local church’s steel orchestra and children’s choir. But at the age of 11, he moved to Dallas, Texas where he learned to play saxophone and became actively involved in his church youth choir and step team until he graduated from high school. In his junior and senior years, he performed at a variety of local events for people who recognized his talent, including weddings, corporate events, high schools, and colleges, as well as other locations across Dallas and Oklahoma. Raised in a single parent home, music was an outlet for the stress of growing up without a father’s influence. He began developing his writing skills and taught himself to play keyboard and record his music using a makeshift studio in his family’s den. He was chosen to sing the National Anthem at his high school graduation and once he graduated, the doors of opportunity began to swing open for his career.
Ace began performing alongside another young man at local school rallies and then the ultimate happened which caused a chain reaction. In July 2005, he performed as part of the opening act for a Throwback Concert featuring the groups Hi-Five and Silk in Irving, Texas. The event was supposed to develop into a 32-city tour with various national artists across the U.S., Europe and Africa. Unfortunately, although the performance went well, due to a number of factors the tour was cancelled and no further performances came from it. However, from that event, a number of contacts were made with local promoters and producers that led to opportunities to perform with other local and national artists.
With his mom managing the business aspect of his career, Ace kicked it into second gear to get his grind on. He formed Get Money Productions and became part of the DRP (Down Right Playas) Clique with his lifelong friends and others he met over the years with the goal of putting D-town on the map. They began to record numerous underground CDs and mixtapes, distributing them throughout Dallas, Houston, OKC and anywhere else they traveled and as they say, the rest is history– or the beginning of history!!
