Acoustix has been electrifying audiences around the world for twelve years. In that time, the quartet has made almost 800 appearances in 44 states of the USA and five provinces of Canada. Performances outside North America have taken the group to Great Britain, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Germany, Australia, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. The foursome has received national exposure with appearances on CNN, NBC’s "Today Show," TNN’s "The Statler Brothers Show," and two PBS programs. In December of 1999, Acoustix performed to a global audience of 175 million viewers on "ABC 2000," hosted by Peter Jennings.
Acoustix has shared the stage with many talented acts, including The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, LeAnn Rimes, The Dixie Chicks, Mitch Miller, Isaac Stern, Pete Fountain, Victor Borge, The Four Freshmen, The Gatlins, The Canadian Brass, The Dallas Wind Symphony and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
The group formed in January of 1990, and in a record-setting six months, was judged "best in the world" in the International barbershop quartet contest. Many quartets will compete for years to win the coveted, "once in a lifetime" International Gold Medal.
To expand their appeal to a much larger audience, the quartet's predominantly a cappella repertoire now showcases a wider variety of musical styles, including vocal jazz, doo-wop, contemporary, barbershop, patriotic and inspirational favorites. From a standard like "Bye, Bye Blackbird" to "I Get Around" from the Beach Boys, to a collection of hits from Simon & Garfunkel, to John Philip Sousa’s "Stars & Stripes Forever," Acoustix sings music that appeals to audiences of all ages.
Acoustix is well known for its inspirational performances of the "Star Spangled Banner" at many sporting events, including games of the San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Lions, Houston Oilers, Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Stars. In Japan, the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service uses their rendition of the National Anthem at the beginning of each daily television broadcast on the Far East Network.
