Band History
From literally opposite sides of the world, the musicians of Ben Zephyr combine a vast range of experience, from the clubs and studios of Europe to opening on arena stages in the U.S. The band's sound consists of a mixture of classic and modern rock, borrowing from the roots of such greats as Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd stylized by undercurrents of more recent acts like Audioslave, Collective Soul, Nickelback and Pearl Jam. The result is a groovy, guitar-driven rock sound that instantly demands your attention.
By the summer of 2003, after recording their self-released debut EP, Ben Zephyr felt ready to start touring, but there was still a lesson to be learned - the importance of songwriting. During 2004, after about 40 shows as a new band, Ben Zephyr took an entire year off to fine-tune their sound and to write enough songs for their next two albums.
In 2005, Ben Zephyr took their new songs to the clubs. Audiences started picking up on the band's infectious excitement about their sound. With resounding success, Ben Zephyr took first place in several local and regional competitions. Soon, Ben Zephyr songs were being played on radio stations across Texas, from KFRQ "The Rock" in the Texas Valley to KISS FM in San Antonio to Dallas and West Texas, including three different songs in heavy rotation on Clear Channel Radio KEYJ Rock 108.
In January 2006, Ben Zephyr received notice from American Idol Underground that their song "Soulfly" was awarded 4th place in their National Song Competition. This news helped Ben Zephyr gain entry in to multiple CBS and NBC morning shows in Texas for interviews and live performances.
During April and May of 2006, Ben Zephyr recorded a full length album, Red Means Go. Within two weeks of the release of the new album, the song "The Beetle Therapy" was picked up for heavy rotation by Clear Channel Radio KEYJ Rock 108 in West Texas.
