Better Than Nothing began as an idea between Sean Layer and Jeff Palmer in early December 2005. Later that month, they aquired Parsa Tahamzedeh to drum, and Arturo Pina to play guitar. The group started practicing in early January, and after deciding that Jeff's voice wasn't fit for the genre of music they wanted to play, they added a vocalist named Brian. Brian played a few shows with the band before deciding to leave in early June. Then, after a heated debate, David Moody joined after a band meeting in mid June 2006.
The band has played many shows so far, including slots with Samoan Joe, Follow The Leader, Free For All, Gym Class Dropouts, Project Flatline, The Bank Robbers, Masters Of Deceit, Less Is More, OffBeat, Seven Day Challenge, and Patrick Allen.
