HERE'S A MORE RECENT BIO
If the hush falls over a loud crowd, and music starts to play, its a good indication that Blackheart Society has just taken the stage. Their band name is significant of the idea that everybody wants something they cannot have. "Thats life and thats what we play songs about, rock n roll." This big beats/blues band hails from Dallas, Texas, where the band finds inspiration in the regions rich history. Their lyrics are about war, love, heartache, dancing, and going out. Their influences include Sonic Youth, Velvet Underground, Neil Young, artists from the early punk rock era, old blues, and country. All of Blackheart Societys songs are important to them. Each song is significant of an idea or feeling that has been experienced, from loving and losing, to wanting space, and alone time. Their work can often be heard around Dallas and other Texas cities. Their live shows closely resemble their recordings, as they liken their recorded work to live performances. Whether they are playing a show for ten people or a sold out show, rest assured that the energy level is always high and never misses. Their live performance is what they believe sets them apart from other bands, as their shows command attention. "Either way we always play our hearts out." They know that giving their all at performances can lead to other opportunities, so they never hold back. Blackheart Society has existed since 2005, with the current lineup since 2007. Members include Sebastian Gutierrez, Ben Fleming and Laurie Reeves Barnett, and Jackye S. on occasion with the violin. They have just debuted their first album, OH!! OH!!, in the spring, and have a second waiting to be released in the fall of this year. The message to their audience and fans is to never give up. Despite heartaches or loss, rock n roll will never die. Do something with your lives, have fun, break stuff, break molds, do something different to better the world. Watch for their second album due out in the fall of 2008. In the mean time, check them out at www. myspace. com/blackheartsocietymusic, and iTunes
