After 20 years of international touring, one appearance on "The Simpsons," two Grammy awards with the rocking polka band Brave Combo, and another Grammy Nomination for his first solo album Polka Freak Out with Alex Meixner, Bubba Hernandez has set out to see what else there is in the world of music.
Los Super Vatos was born deep en el corazon of Cenobio X. "Bubba" Hernandez as a vehicle to perform the cumbia rockin' music from his self titled album, Bubba Hernandez. Although there have been many Vatos coming and going the last couple of years, for his latest edition, he recently teamed up with LA producer/guitarist Scrote who has worked with everyone from Fred Frith to Daniel Johnston to the MC5's Wayne Kramer. Together with various all-star casts of musicians from all three coasts, he perseveres with a greasy yet worldy, completely unique sound. Bubba Hernandez y Los Super Vatos rock out cumbias, merengues, Tejano, & Afro-Latin styles that sit perfectly between Los Lobos and Los Lonely Boys.
Los Super Vatos is made up of a rotating group of local musicians.
