After graduating from Texas A&M with a Mechanical Engineering degree in '97 and a failed attempt to make his first million in the internet boom in Silicon Valley, Colby returned back to his childhood home of Duncanville, TX in April '02 to dedicate his life to music. With an empty pocket book, a notebook full of songs, and a soul full of inspiration he set out to create a vision in the industry that he had seen so many times in his mind and dreams. A flawless (hardly), vocal harmony group...a band of individuals, all of whom are vocalists, songwriters and musicians in their own right, but understand the power and joy of collaboration and unselfish accompaniment. And not 2 months after his arrival into the depths of the Deep Ellum music scene he met his flagship collaborator, Jason Dickson, and his first band, Anytown, was born.
As fate would have it, Colby decided to take a break from Anytown and venture out into the world as a solo artist.
So what should you expect when you go see a live show? Catch a solo show and you are bound to be reminded of James Taylor, Cat Stevens, or Jim Croce with a contemporary twist. Catch a full band show and you might be reminded of the early days of The Eagles or the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. The stage is usually filled with all acoustic instruments including upright bass, banjo, mandolin, fiddle–often playing without a drummer.
