Band History
Dale Watson is about as Texas as you can get, but he actually lived in North Carolina until he was 12. When his family moved to the Lone Star State, Watson became hooked on Texas Swing and artists like George Jones, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash. He got his first paying gig when he was 14 and played in bars and nightclubs throughout high school. His dream was always to become a country singer, but he was disappointed at what was being produced in Nashville. In fact, by 1994 he all but gave up music and signed up at a community college to learn how to repair motorcycles.
Just about the same time, a European record label contacted Watson about doing a CD. He agreed. Watson later sent a copy to a HighTone Records, based in California. They liked what they heard and signed him to a deal.
Ever since, Dale Watson has been a keeper of the true country flame.

Just played the Grand Ole Opry with Charley Pride and Dale was on the show. Dale was a big hit and he sure showed them how it is done in Texas.

I am delighted that you have Dale Watson on your country list. We have met Dale Watson twice in Austin Texas. He has a brilliant country voice & he is no stranger to Scotland. He comes to Glasgow my home town in Scotland. We also have a Grand ole opry there.& he is always welcome. Hope to see you again soon.
Margaret
