Dean Strickland has been hitchhiking around Texas since September 2005, playing in new towns and booking gigs as he goes. Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and reared in Fort Worth, Texas, Dean now calls Panhandle, Texas his homebase. Dean began the slow route to shows after he found himself stuck in Austin with no car and no money.
Dean attended the University of North Texas College of Music for four years. Then in 2002, he moved to California to study at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, graduating from the Recording Artist Program in 2002, the Vocal Institute of Technology in 2003 and the Guitar Institute of Technology in 2004.
Dean has his own record label and two websites, often checking email from public libraries. He "be just bummin' rides" across the Lone Star State.
