Typically, if you’ve ever known anyone from a small town, ultimately their goal is to get as far away as possible and begin a new life. Such is the case for a small Texas town metal band known as DEBRI. Refusing to conform to the many passing trends, DEBRI incorporates a vast variety of influences into their sound, ultimately writing and performing material that will consume the listener. Simply it’s just writing music that people can relate and get into, but doing it in an absolutely intense fashion. The foundation of southern groove, hardcore, and a touch of death metal complemented by an explosive amount of energy and aggressiveness is a fitting title for the group. DEBRI takes pride in every aspect of their music, most importantly trying to connect with the listener and the audience, making them feel as much a part of the music as possible. After breaking into the Dallas/Ft. Worth metal scene 2 and a half years ago, members Brian McCoy, ( vocals ), Jeremy Trollinger, ( Guitars ), Brad Kirkland, ( Bass ), and J. D. Wakefield, ( drums ) have been writing, recording, and performing nonstop. DEBRI released their debut independent album, "The Life of Death," recorded at TLA Studios in Weatherford, TX, in the summer of 2007. Since then, have made a name for themselves in areas like Ft. Worth, Dallas, Abilene, San Antonio, Wichita Falls, and east Texas, but still strive to hit every city, town, nook and cranny to spread their music. Taking pride in their live performance is what caught many people’s attention and turned some heads for the group. DEBRI has been fortunate to share the stage with bands such as ALL THAT REMAINS, OBLIGE, EARLY GRAVES, POWERMAN 5000, LIGHT THIS CITY, FARLESS, DYING FETUS, CEPHALIC CARNAGE, YEAR OF DESOLATION, SKELETONWITCH, EARSHOT, and most recently took home the grand prize at The Monster Energy Garage to Ozz Battle of the Bands contest hosted by 97.1 The Eagle out of Dallas. Out of 200 bands, DEBRI was awarded a one year sponsorship with Monster Energy and had the honor of playing OZZFEST 2008 at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX. DEBRI opened the Monster Energy stage with acts such as THE SWORD, DROWNING POOL, RIGOR MORTIS, THE DESTRO and WITHIN CHAOS, as well as sharing the bill with Legendary names such as OZZY OSBOURNE, METALLICA, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, SHADOWS FALL, DEVIL DRIVER, GOATWHORE, SOILENT GREEN, KINGDOM OF SORROW, SEVENDUST, HELL YEAH. Although the young band has accomplished a lot in a short amount of time, it is far from being complacent. DEBRI is determined to maintain their momentum while pushing forward and eventually spreading their music to the masses regionally, nationally, and worldwide.
