Don't Tell Mama
- Sound Description:
- Horn bands from the past four decades
- Recommended:
- Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, Tower of Power, and James Brown.
Founded 2005, based in Dallas, TX
The band formed in 2005 under the direction of Glenn Lightford. Several of the members played together in a 60s tribute band for several years, but due to the former band leader's serious health issues, the band was dissolved.
Don't Tell Mama has played for weddings, festivals, corporate events, and clubs. They received the Outstanding Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of their contributions to the City of Dallas Parks and Recreation Department, and the Pike Park Advisory Council.
DTM plays hits from the past four decades, including funk & soul, R&B, Motown, some one-hit wonders from the 60s, disco, dance music from the 80s, some surprises from the 90s, and a little Latin. Their sound is similar to that of the horn bands from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
