Gatlin McAdoo was born on October 6, 1982 in Dallas, Texas. When he was in the first grade, his family moved to East Texas where he grew up in a small country town. From an early age, Gatlin was very active in sports. From the seventh grade to his senior year, he was quarterback for his school football team. During this same time in Gatlin’s life, he developed a strong love for country music. Even the old hymns sung in church on Sundays seemed to point Gatlin’s heart in a certain direction.
Being the dedicated, hard-working person that he is, Gatlin gave 100% to school and sports. Finally at age 16, he taught himself to play the guitar. His senior year in high school, he went to work at Sellstar Ranch in Lindale, Texas. As a 2001 graduate from Van High School, Gatlin attended Tyler Junior College where, after two years of study, he decided to pursue a career in country music. With the love and support of his family, Gatlin is well on his way to realizing his dream.
Gatlin has put together a very talented band called Back Forty and completed a studio album, Last Chance Café. This true Texan holds a passion in his soul for traditional country music. From his starched jeans to his black felt hat, Gatlin not only sings country, he is country. You only have to hear Gatlin’s voice and see him on stage to know that he is exactly where he is supposed to be.
