Band History

The first seed for Guys & Dolls was planted in December 2002 when Bruce Smith, Gary Applegate, Judy Hudson and Shawn Qualls formed a contemporary a cappella group called Lady & The Tramps. The group enjoyed some local success, forged lifelong friendships, and ultimately disbanded in October 2003 after Shawn's job moved to Oklahoma. On May 25, 2004, Bruce, Judy and Gary decided to revive the group and add Barbara Herteg. With two females now in the quartet, the old name was no longer appropriate. As such, the group was reborn as Guys & Dolls with a redefined objective to become a high-energy performing quartet patterned after The Manhattan Transfer. For more variety, Guys & Dolls began to perform both a cappella and with instrumental CD accompaniment. In December 2006, Judy elected to retire from the group in order to devote time to realizing other non-musical dreams. In January 2007, Guys & Dolls welcomed Ann Grannan to the fold. The group again redefined it's objective by raising the bar on both the repertoire and presentation. Many new and challenging twists were added to an already eclectic performance package. Guys & Dolls were honored to be a featured performer in the 2006 Tarrant County MasterWorks Concert Series.

The band members sing the following parts:

Bruce Smith: tenor
