In a culture currently bombarded by youth orientated pop, young singer/songwriter Jason Corcoran is a refreshing breather of depth and substance.

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Corcoran has been writing, recording and performing his own music since the age of fourteen. His writing style encompasses many genres and emotions. Corcoran offers a breadth of subject unusual for a young man at the age of 17, poignantly conversing about the betrayal of young love and social dissonance. His songs are easily relatable and he has a following not just within his age range but with older audience members as well. Audiences are attracted to his undeniable presence and strong distinct voice, which is reminiscent of Dylan, Young and Tweedy.

Akira Sato Jazz trumpeter Akira Sato, by way of Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Canada, is an SMU faculty member and director of The Meadow Jazz Orchestra at SMU. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UNT where he teaches jazz arranging. Sato is also heading into the studio soon with other area musicians and playing at the Scat Jazz Lounge tonight. With all that he's up to, the least you could do is order a Scotch on the rocks and chill to some tunes. (Photo by flickr user arteunporro. More info
