Joe Kirkland was born in 1987 in Forth Worth, but Joe K is a different story. Joe K was born the very day someone put a guitar in his hands. At 14 he was writing songs for a little garage/bedroom band, writing each part separately, from guitar to drums to keys. At 15 he found a love for the singer/songwriter, acoustic guitar route, and began to write notebooks and notebooks of songs. These songs slowly progressed and became the mellow acoustic feel of Joe's first full-length album, Downtime Notebook, completed at the age of 16. This album was recorded in two days at Patrick McGuire Recording studios in Arlington, with every instrument and vocal track laid down by Joe. Through this record, Joe began playing local venues.
Through the promotion of Downtime Notebook, Joe began to develop his music, improve his lyrics, and distinguish his image, which led him to record his second full-length album, Climbing Towers. This CD was completed in four days, and Joe recorded all the instruments, including electric and acoustic guitars, drums, keyboards, and vocals. Soon after, he began sending out demos and press packs to every record label he could think of. Joe is now playing locally around the DFW area with his band, The Joe K Experience.
