Joey Love hit the Texas Music Scene in 1995, forming the Blues Xpress, and to date has two independently released CDs.
After landing in the Texas scene from Pennsylvania in 1979, Joey was immediately sucked in by the blues all around him. Suddenly Texas greats like The Fabulous Thunderbirds, ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Freddie King and Johnny Winter, among others, were screaming out his stereo as Joey literally locked himself in his room to learn this sound that overcame his soul. Today it's embedded in his fingers and heart and shows with every sweet note that sings from his guitar.
Joey's band has been captivating audiences ever since. The band has been included on a few compilation CDs, including one for KNON 89.3FM radio in Dallas, TX and a compilation CD that was distributed with the Oct. 2000 issue of SPIN magazine. They have performed at a variety of major events, including SRV Memorial Ride & Concert at Billy Bobs, the Dallas Montage Festival at Artist Square, the Wortham Blues Festival, Deep Ellum Main Street Festival and a multitude of other festivals and venues as far North as Lincoln, Nebraska. The band has also appeared on KDFW Fox 4's Good Day Dallas morning show and the DaBlues and Deja Blues TV shows on UPN21. They have opened for a variety of national acts and traveled the state performing at clubs, festivals and private functions.
Joey and the band don't rely on covers or classics. They rely on the strength of their original material and the powerful and soulful guitar that has faded from the music scene over the past few years. They mix their show with a blend of different styles, not straying too far from the core of blues but far enough to keep an crowd's attention. This is what only great artists can pull off with ease!
