Kevin Banford was born in the northern foothills of the Wasatch Front range of the Rocky Mountains. He relocated to Southern California at the age of three, and grew up in the Orange County community of El Toro. After watching a local garage band (made up of classmates from junior high) perform one day at school, the idea that "guitar players got more chicks than jocks" became readily apparent. Shortly thereafter, he began composing original songs and playing guitar at the ripe old age of 13, learning the craft of songwriting through listening to the popular music of the time.
Kevin's first taste of the stage came in such world famous honky tonks as The Palomino Club in North Hollywood and The Crazy Horse Steak House & Saloon in Santa Ana. In 1998 and 2001, he was a featured vocalist in Laguna Beach's world renowned production of the "Pageant of the Masters," in which he fronted a forty piece orchestra singing "country" & "cowboy" tunes for over 150,000 people a season. In addition, Kevin had singles slot at number 5 and number 12 on the European independent radio charts, and five songs off his debut album, King Of The Thrift store Cowboys, were used in made for TV movies.
Kevin eventually moved from southern California to Austin, and from Austin to Fort Worth, where he has been appearing at venues like the White Elephant, Pearl’s Dancehall and Saloon, and the Longhorn Saloon.
