The Mesquite Symphony Orchestra is unique from most of the other symphony orchestras in the area because all its musicians volunteer their time and services. Since 1994, the MSO has been under the direction of Roger Gilliam, who was also a playing member of the MSO from 1988-90, serving as principal trumpet.
Each year Brookhaven College and the MSO collaborate for two concerts. The first is in Mesquite and the second is at Brookhaven, which benefits the college's music department scholarship fund.
