Michael Gooden Band is a post-rock worship band out of Dallas, TX. With insightful lyrics and inquisitive melodies, you will find yourself more than just bobbing your head to the sounds, but singing along in a contagious meter and finding nothing better to do than worshipping your Creator.
Several opportunities have enabled Michael to release three live albums since 2002, as well as travel throughout the United States, Mexico, Spain, and England, playing in both religious and secular venues alike. He completed the four-song EP, Not What Sounds Right in September 2004 alongside engineer/producer Corbin Miles of Ignition Productions. With musical influences such as Copeland, Death Cab for Cutie, Explosions in the Sky, Chris Carrabba, and a host of other independent artists, the band restructures past and present approaches to worship music through exposing their foundations of faith in innovative form. Other members of the band include Jon Cook, Trevor Wright, and Matt Wilson, who succeed in capturing the style at its core, producing a sound that is fundamentally distinguished and effortlessly recognized.

Redefining the Disfranchised: The Political Art of Nina Allender As we continue to celebrate the 88th Anniversary of Women's Right to Vote, there's a prime opportunity to view influential art from the era. Nina Evans Allender drew political cartoons for The Suffragist from 1914 into the 1920s, transforming stereotypical views of who a suffragist was. Over the years, Allender contributed more than 250 political cartoons to the movement, a number of which are on display at the Women's Museum at Fair Park. More info
