Band History

The Opposites Attract were formed in late 2003 as a project featuring Deborah on vocals and Channce on guitar/drum machine. After playing some shows it was decided that the songs didn't come across as they should, so Deborah began learning the bass and the hunt began to find new members. The first person to join was Pawl on additional guitars, followed shortly by Shaun on drums, who was a good friend of the band. This line-up continued until Pawl left the band to pursue school at the Art Institute for video production.

The band took a break to audition, and eventually returned with a new guitar player, Cat, and a new set of songs. TOA played a string of gigs with this group, including an awesome show on the roof of Club Clearview that reportedly could be heard 4 blocks away. Of course, all good things must come to an end, and in mid-November Cat left, with Shaun soon following suit. This put the band on break yet again to find a new drummer.

Finally, TOA are yet again poised to bring their own special kind of noise back with Lydia on drums, Deborah on bass/vox, and Channce on guitar/vox. Once again the band has a new assortment of songs with a new outlook on the music they make. When asked about the new line-up/material, Channce said: "Music should be fun, so that's our new goal. You can't take music too seriously, because then it just becomes work, and if your heart's not in it then you're just wasting everyone's time."

So there you have it. The Opposites Attract are a band that is looking to write great, fun songs and put on a show to match.

Sound Description

The Opposites Attract. The name describes the sound. Something familiar, yet new. Beautiful and ugly. A huge wash of noise in a small, concise arrangement.
