Orpheus Chamber Singers was founded in 1995 by artistic director Donald Krehbiel. To provide rewarding professional opportunities for choral singers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Mr. Krehbiel has assembled a group of D/FW's finest, many of them recognized soloists, and has blended them into a richly satisfying ensemble capable of singing music of every period.` This professional chorus of 24 singers has garnered critical acclaim for its exquisite sound and innovative programming. Named for the mythical poet and musician whose music had the power to move even inanimate objects, the choir is known for its professional polish, stylish versatility, and passionate performances.
The purpose of OCS is to enrich, inspire and educate by providing exceptional performances of traditional and innovative chamber choral music from the past six centuries. Their history includes performances of over 350 pieces from 22 countries, spanning six centuries and numerous styles, commissions of outstanding new works, numerous guest appearances and outreach to area schools.
OCS released its first commercial recording, A Sound of Angels, in October 2000 to rave reviews. Their second recording, Night Sounds, was released in September 2002.

Laurie Anderson Laurie Anderson is indescribably delicious. She's hitting McFarlin tonight with her new show, Homeland, and you can bet it will contain intellectual stimulation and pure unadulterated weirdness in equal measure. An album will follow the Homeland tour in 2009. More info
