Plano Symphony Orchestra
Upcoming local shows
The orchestra was first established as the Plano Chamber Orchestra. One year later, the Board of Directors created a volunteer committee called ENCORE as a vehicle to reach orchestra goals. In 1993, the Board of Directors also established an Advisory Council to provide input on issues affecting the orchestra’s future. The name officially changed to the Plano Symphony Orchestra in January 1998.
The orchestra’s seasons gradually expanded from 3 concerts in the first year to more than 19 concerts this season. The Season now consists of: an eight-concert Super Series with the "Home for the Holidays" concert repeated three times, The Messiah with the Plano Civic Chorus, and the Patriotic Pops Concert. Our education program has expanded to four school-day concerts in the Eisemann Center for Collin County fourth-graders. We premiered the Family Symphony Sunday Series, five interactive and educational concerts created for children ages 4-12 and their families, in Jauary of 2004.
Since 1987, the orchestra’s principal performance hall had been the 1050-seat theater of the Fellowship Bible Church North. The symphony held its last performance in the Fellowship Bible Church on March 1, 2003.
