Rebel Meets Rebel is a side project formed by Dimebag Darrell Abbott (Pantera) and David Allen Coe in 1998. The two became friends and started writing songs together. The band's self-titled debut CD, to be released in May 2006, was recorded between 1999 and 2003.
Born in Texas, Dimebag and his brother Vinnie grew up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, where they came from a very musical background. Their father, Jerry Abbott, owned and engineered a recording studio not far from their home. The brothers used to hang out down at the studio on a regular basis, where they got to see their share of Texas legends. Dime and Vinnie were also influenced by such greats as Tony Iommi, Ace Frehley, Edward Van Halen, Randy Rhodes, Tommy Aldridge, John Bonham, Alex Van Halen and Neil Peart.
Dimebag, Vinnie, Tommy Bradford, vocalist Donnie Hart, and guitarist Terry Glaze originally formed Pantera in high school in 1981. The group's first big album was 1990's Cowboys from Hell, and from there they went on to become a major metal force. In 2003, Dimebag and Vinnie left Pantera to form Damageplan.
In December 2004, Dimebag and three others were shot and killed during a Damageplan concert in Columbus, Ohio, before a police officer shot and killed the gunman.
For fans of Dimebag, the new Rebel Meets Rebel album should be a welcome return to his style of music, as exemplified by Pantera and Damageplan.

Saturday Tastings in the Wine and Beer Department Little Joey just LOVES the Saturday wine tastings at Central Market - he particularly likes the blind tastings, when he can sneak a snort while Mommie's not looking. (Great nose!) More info
