RIYL: Classical, pops and big band fun at little band prices
Formed: 1916
City: Richardson, TX

The Richardson Community Brass Band, as it was then known, was formed in approximately 1916. However, the band was disbanded during both World Wars I & II. In 1970, Joe Frank, director of the Richardson High School Band, reorganized the band and it has been an active part of the community every since.
For over the last 30 years, the band has been providing affordable entertainment for families all over the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The volunteer members of this organization are dedicated to donating their time and energy to make music that will bring joy not only to their lives, but to the lives of others. From the Summer Series held on the lawn of the Richardson, Texas Civic Center/Library complex, to the indoor concerts in the Showcase Series, each concert is designed to offer a variety of repertoire that will appeal to all age levels. The concerts are made possible thanks to the generous financial support of the Richardson Arts Commission, the members of the Richardson Community Band and the generous donations of audience members.
Currently, the band is a 60 member, all-volunteer adult group composed of musicians from beginners to those with more than 40 years experience. The roster includes teachers, business owners, executives, retirees and college students. The band has been under the direction of G.W. Jones since 1983.
