Band History

One of the first thrash death metal bands from Texas, Rotting Corpse was formed by Walt Traschsler and Jim Mulqueen. The two had known each other while working as roadies for Pantera in the early 80's. They had been searching for musicians for more than two years when they met John Perez, after Traschsler responded to an ad in a local music store. The group then found Dave Gryder to play drums, and the band recorded its first demo in early 1986.

After several demo recordings and lineup changes, Rotting Corpse was laid to rest on Valentine's Day 1990. However, the band was given life 14 years later with Steve Murphy and Trachsler getting together with Luke Brewer on guitars and Randy Gribb on drums for an impromptu jam the weekend of Murphy's wedding in July 2004.

What was meant as a final hoorah and a quick trip down memory lane for the four band mates actually triggered the passion that was burning inside Trachsler in the early days of Rotting Corpse.

With bassist Murphy leading the charge, all the early Rotting Corpse demos were remastered and officially released on CD for the first time through their own label.

Rotting Corpse along with original vocalist Mulqueen have been playing sporadically throughout Texas sharing the stage with fellow thrashers Rigor Mortis and Gammacide on selected nights. The shows are a prelude to bigger and better things to come in the future for the band.
