From the depths of DFW, Scott Copeland & Sidetracks are a big sounding, hard-hitting band that has hit the North Texas and Red-Dirt music scene with sudden impact.
This four-piece band has come a long way from being a dream Copeland had been harboring for some time. Collectively, each member brings a wealth of talent to the table. With all band members having been part of previous groups in and around Texas, their momentum was strong from the beginning. Formed by chance in the late summer of 2004, ex-Merchants guitarist John Zaskoda, bassist and former bandleader Andy Pate, and the acclaimed Copeland himself decided to move forward with the idea of putting it all together. It wasn’t long before Dallas native Brandon Wallace joined, bringing the backbeat to what has become the DFW area’s newest and most anticipated band.
Scott has been recognized for many years as a premier songwriter in the north Texas region. While the band breathes fresh air into many of his old songs, the band’s sound and new material are its own. Borrowing from a wide range of influences including Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Willie Nelson, the songs on the group’s most recent album reflects each member's collective experience and talents.
