Slick 57
(Disbanded)
Genres: Alt-Country / Americana, Punk, Rock
Formed: 2002
City: Dallas, TX
Web site: http://www.slick57.com
Since pursuing music as a full time job in the fall of 2002, Slick 57 has played over 500 shows mixing their pounding cowpunk screamers in with glorious western ballads. Music critics have compared Slick's unique sound to the that of The Dead Milkmen, Jason & The Scorchers, Waylon Jennings, Wilco, Pixies, Green Day and Hank Williams Sr.
Slick 57 has traveled extensively through Europe, Australia, New Zealand and their homeland preaching to the masses while enjoying airplane rides, surfing, boat culture, beautiful women and truckloads of free drinks. Ignorant fame seekers ask, "How does such a miracle happen?" Well, it ain't all biscuits and gravy, friends. Slick 57 has been through a fair bit of hell in the last year as well. . . . They've been sued, nearly evicted, amplifiers have been stolen, paychecks have bounced, the electricity's been shut off for weeks at a time, the Silver Bullet's been broken down and wrecked, the repo man and the officer at the East Dallas drunk tank are on the Christmas card list and the kinfolk think the boys have lost their minds.
In order for Slick 57 to make ends meet, they have used their college degrees and calloused hands to work in burrito factories, telemarketing sweatshops and the ditch-digging industrial unit. Maybe they have lost their minds. The truth is such hardships have only made Slick 57 stronger. The boys will continue to fight the good fight in the name of the power of rock n roll until their fingers fall off and their throats dry up. Until then, hold fast and pray for biscuits and gravy.
Two of the members of Slick 57 also play in Boys Named Sue and Jon Pedigo plays in Rose County Fair.
Effective as of April, 2006, the band is going on indefinite hiatus as the band members pursue their other projects.
