Southbound Texas 35
- Sound Description:
- Texas roadhouse music, with a mixture of original and cover songs
Founded 2005, based in Dallas, TX
Lead singer and songwriter Tiny Heath is the heart and soul of Southbound Texas 35. He sings in a bluesy-country-rock voice with tremendous range and feeling. He can belt out songs by Bob Seger and Ray Charles, rock the house with songs by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Eric Clapton, bring back memories with songs by The Beatles and George Strait, touch your heart with songs by Allison Kraus and Jim Croce, or just have some fun with songs by Tina Turner, Jimmy Buffett or Elvis. Tiny's original songs echo both his Oklahoma roots and his Texas home, and are equally diverse in their styles and feeling.
The other band members brings decades of experience playing many styles of music. Guitarist and songwriter Alex Townes is an experienced performer and the backbone of the bands' mix of acoustic and electric sound. Drummer Richard Kirwan is an experienced music veteran, having played with many bands. Lead guitarist Michael Keaton brings his mix of blues and rock licks from his prior band Soulville. Bass player and songwriter Elizabeth Middle merges her rhythmic alternative rock bass lines to the band's groove.
