Steve started out playing piano at 6 (1968), recorder at 8 (1970), keyboard/synthesizer around 15 (1977), switching to bass at 19 (1982), switching again at 29 (1991) to classical guitar, adding mountain dulcimer in 1993, electric guitar in 1998, mandolin in 2005... What's next?
Driven to write original material since his mid-teens, Steve played bass and sang in progressive/heavy rock/metal bands from 1983 to 1991 before making a hard right turn into classical and folk territory in late 1991 leaving metal behind (for a time) to journey to mystic lands where everything is gentle and pure, where the sound of water flowing is like the music of the spheres.
Then it happened. Around 1993, Steve began sensing "the call" of the music that had long before captivated him: that of bands like Kansas, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, and especially Rush. Steve's current musical style is evocative of his various influences over the years, particularly those most recent.
