In the mid '70s, T-Richard grew up in rural East Texas, listening to reggae and calypso music. Back then, he was jamming on Max Romeo, Peter Tosh and Black Stalin while his Zeppelin lovin' school pals thought he was just plain eccentric. His love for Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago was useful later down the road, as his connection with Creole culture landed him in the middle of Acadiana.
His interest in Southern Louisiana culture afforded him his own Louisiana music radio program, "The Louisiana Music Party," on Monday nights on Dallas' KNON 89.3 FM, which has been running for almost 20 years. His weekly spinning of Louisiana tunes motivated him to create the music he fell in love with.
For over 14 years, T-Richard has been playing accordion, singing and writing tunes in various DFW based bands. He helped spawn many area bands, such as Zydeco Faux Pas, The Swamptones, Hippie Gumbo, and The ComeAlongs. In 2006, he decided it was time to start fresh with his own band, T-Richard & The Zydeco Stingrays.
