Thrown started in January 2004 with four guys getting together to play the music that they loved. After playing shows as a cover band, the group decided to write their own music. In doing so, they combined the band's many different influences, from '80s heavy metal to '90s hard-hitting riffs, to come up with a unique and unforgetable sound, with identifiable lyrics that discuss real life experiences. In May 2006, Thrown teamed up with Alex Gerst and ITR Studios to release their debut EP Out of the Shadows. The first single "Free" received great reviews from Dallas radio, helping the band increase their growing fan base.
