Born in North Texas, with deep family roots in the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles, Tracie began life with a passion for music, taking up piano and violin as a young girl and later studying music composition at the University of North Texas. With her classical background, she secretly yearned to play guitar and write songs. Eventually she immersed herself into the folk scene, taking instruction from other songwriters such as Jack Hardy of New York City, Bill Nash and Bob Ackerman of Dallas.
Her debut CD, That's Mine, was self-produced on her own label, 225 Miles Music. The all acoustic album, recorded live and unplugged in the studio features 10 songs - simply voice and guitar.
