Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Under The Black Hat serves up an intoxicating cocktail of rock, goth and new wave. The band formed in February of 2005 when drummer Mickey Murder and bassist Laney Lovejoy joined forces in building a dark and delightfully intense all-female project. A few months and several auditions later, they finally struck gold when guitarist Honey White agreed to join the lineup. The sophisticated blend of Honey's hard-driving, melodic metal riffs, Laney's abstract, in-the-pocket grooves, and Mickey's heavy-hitting tribal beats convinced the band that the sky was the limit - if only they could find the right vocalist to complete the package.
Honey later brought friend Amber out to audition. When the band started to play, and Amber opened her mouth to sing, that beautifully haunting voice came billowing out, and it was undeniably clear that they had found their missing piece. The band is currently showcasing their distinctive sound in commanding live performances at premier North Texas venues.

The Magnetic Fields Quartet led by songwriter Stephen Merritt is resolutely "indie" so how come their music has been used in a Volvo commercial and appeared in the film Lemony Snicket? More info
