The Unwound Band, established in the summer of 2002, has come a long way from Pickin’ and Grinnin’ on the back porch. Chris Ahrens and Chris Bohon met at Texas Christian University where both were in the pursuit of a music degree from the prestigious TCU School of Music. From the very beginning, the two had much in common and after realizing they had similar interests in music, a band and vision was born. By the hand of fate, they met Nathan Krieger and after a long friendship, Nathan, Chris, and Bohon soon became roommates.
Many long nights were spent playing guitar and singing songs, dreaming of the opportunity for them to spread their music and more importantly, their love of music, to anyone that would listen. On any given night, their house would be filled with friends and fraternity brothers in a beer infused sing-along that would last well into the night. The demand for their music eventually received so much support that they were coerced into getting a band together and from there, with Chris and Bohon as lead men, Nathan took the role as manager and they went off in search of a band.
Accomplished violinist and fellow TCU music alum Becca Watson came on as fiddle player and Joe Carpenter, a Texas Wesleyan grad, sat in on drums. Both of these musicians brought much knowledge and influence into the band and with their input and dedication, the current “Unwound Sound” evolved.
Ever since their first practice, the Unwound Band have hit the ground running, playing all over the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. They have become an insanely popular honky tonk band in the Fort Worth Stockyards through high energy shows at the White Elephant Saloon, Stockyards Saloon and legendary Billy Bob’s Texas.
