Zanzibar Snails is the abstract, communal improv/drone project of Nevada Hill and Michael Chamy, formed from the ashes of their previous aleatory Denton combo iDi*amin, along with a rotating cast of explorers. Zanzibar Snails are spread far wide across the metroplex but consider Denton their home base. Zanzibar Snails have played art galleries, rock clubs, living rooms, clothing stores, warehouses, and biergartens. The band are led by a visual artist and a journalist. Zanzibar Snails challenge, intrigue, confuse, and transport. The Snails have shared stages w/ Six Organs of Admittance, the Silver Apples, Suishou no Fune, Wooden Shjips, Monsters of Pot, Rahdunes, Mike Tamburo, A_PINK_CLOUD, Aidan Baker, Medio Mutante, My Education, Mugu Guymen, ST 37, Social Junk, The Great Tyrant, Shiny Around the Edges, Nouns Group, Treewave, Daniel Francis Doyle, Venison Whirled, Finally Punk, Cue, Balmorhea, Dust Congress, and many more. Zanzibar Snails were participants in MelodicaFest 2008, as well as Strategies of Beauty Vols. 1. 5 2 in Austin, TX. Zanzibar Snails released the dense, multi part spectral drone sculpture Brown Dwarf on their own MAYYRH Records label in March 2008. They will also release the ethereal, meandering, organic, provocative and personable Vanadium Dream on Los Angeles CDr label Phantom Limb Recordings in May 2008. Zanzibar Snails have other releases available at Mayyrh along with releases by related projects iDi*amin and D N. information submitted by the band
