Sloth is a sin

Posted By Andrew Johnstone in Bigger Than Texas on May 16, 2006

I'm sick and tired of lazy musicians/promoters/radio DJs/music people in general. If I hear one more band from Baltimore tell me how hard it is to book shows, I'll clock them upside their gullet. For serious yo.

I mean...YOU LIVE IN BALTIMORE! DC is half an hour away, Philadelphia is 2 hours away, New York City is under 4. Don't tell me that you can't find a show. That's a damn lie. Two of the top 3 largest metropolitan areas in the country are a stones throw away and you can't book a show? Go fall in a well, you don't deserve to be a musician. No one is going to hand you a record contract and do the work for you.

And you know, maybe they just suck, it's entirely possible, but seriously, being a band on the east coast is so ridiculously easy, it's not like you live in Oregon...

Oh and radio DJs, man, don't get me started, I just holler'd at our whole staff at WMUC because so many kids were requesting fill-ins due to finals week. I mean...what!? You can't just make a mix CD and study for the two hours this week that you happen to be doing a radio show? I put a ton more time in before I do my show than two hours and I have a bunch of finals but hey, I'm still doing it.

We need a process to weed out the sloth-like demons haunting our musical landscape. Like a laziness exorcism. At least I still have dear sweet Cindy, she'll never stop working till the day she drops dead from a sniper's bullet...wait that was JFK...

Goonies never say die!!
