He is that in to you: The kindest kiss-off

Even when you've got more than 400,000 readers, it still hurts to see one go. I see all the account cancellation requests. Most say little besides "I'm gone." Some rant and rave about some transgression that sent them away. Some are confused.

But every once in awhile, I get one that makes me smile. This came in over the weekend from one of our early users :

Dear Dallas (and pegasusnews),

I moved to Austin. I know this is sudden and we haven’t finished painting the living room, but what’s done is done. I moved out. We can talk about your sweater later.

With that, please cancel my account.

While I enjoyed your community and writers very much during our relationship, I’m not keeping up with your news as much as I should. Blame my new location, new job and family, but not me. I did everything I could for you. Remember Valentine’s Day? That special stroll along White Rock? That was me.

Also, you’re showing up in my online search results and it might give the false impression I’m still living with you. My mom asked me about that and I had to explain the whole sweater thing and why we moved. She understood , of course. She’s my mom. But, she also told me she just had sprinklers installed and she’s quite committed to her relationship with Dallas. So she’s cool with you.

Anyway, we will always have the sunsets,

incognato
