Dixie Chicks R Funny

The Dixie Chicks talk to Steve Kroft at 60 Minutes about their death threat in Dallas three years ago, among other items, this Sunday. Again, death threats ain't funny. But this quote from the upcoming show is:
"Since country music's turned into this redneck theme, it's become kind of a negative thing in my mind, where I didn't think it was negative before," says fiddle player Martie Maguire. "I think for a while, a lot of artists were doing a lot of great things...that were broadening the audience so that country was cool. So it makes me sad that it's kind of reverted back to a place that I'm not that proud of â and this is coming from a true country fan. I can't listen to the radio right now."
Hahaha, now that's entertainment. How holier-than-thou can the Chicks get? Yeah, before we went off on George Bush country music was cool, but now that we've stirred up a hornet's nest the whole industry has gone to redneck hell. Gotcha, Martie. Hey, I haven't been able to listen to most country radio since 19-Always because it sucks. If anyone can point me to Dixie Chicks rage pre-2003, I'll be glad to take a look.
And if I keep catching artists incessantly yak on how righteous they are (regardless of politics of any stripe or some other irritating subject) that narrows the playing field even more for me.
Ugh, Steve, how could you sit through this crap?

The only one more smarmy than the Chicks is the DO's Robert Wilonsky, who wrote recently when the Chicks made Time's Top 100 Goofballs: "I guarantee you, every fan they lost three years ago was one they didn’t want in the first place."
Yeah, nothing spells endearment better than pissing off Buddy Holly's family, among millions of others.
Good Lord, how can you people live in such a bitter world?
