Transparency n’ Traffic

The One That's Not About Music

Published: February 5, 2006

As always, in our commitment to transparency, we've posted our month-end traffic stats here.

Some interesting tidbits:

  • Minus our own tinkering with the site, we had 58,970 visits and 423,622 pageviews. We're very happy about that.

  • On average, each member of the TexasGigs team created or changed 5,500 pages each. (Those numbers are already backed out of the stats above.)

  • Having more than 600 bands in our system means a lot of variety. Our top 2,000 pages(!) only accounted for 65% of our traffic.

  • The average visit lasts ten minutes and 8.1 pageviews.

  • Most popular band pages: Lazer, Pikahsso, 3-Alarm, Old 97's and Salim Nourallah.

  • Most popular events: Spune's Back 2 School, Lauren Gifford's Absinthe stand, and Speedtrucker's farewell.

  • Top genres: Alt-Country, Metal and Alt-Indie

  • We gained 124 new registered users for a total of 203

  • 216 new comments were posted during the month

  • 4,985 songs and videos were downloaded

  • Besides permutations of our site name or Cindy's name, our top search terms were: Johnny Lloyd Rollins, Shamus McNasty, Dallas Music Festival, Michelle Metzinger, Levi Smith and Sambuca Addison.

Traffic continued to grow this week (after these numbers closed). We're humbled that so many of you have chosen to spend so much time with us. Keep listening, reading and contributing-- we plan on making this a long, strange trip indeed.

Very impressive ... and certainly justified by the great work everyone's doing there.
