Just another day at the office

The One That's Not About Music

Being an internet media 2.7 proto-mogul can be a thankless gig. But then, on days like today, it's magical.

So I'm sitting in our flophouse conference room, chatting up a prospective investor, when in stroll international megastars Lazer, deigning to pop in for an interview and a little in-studio performance. Now clearly, such an honor trumps any business meeting that's going on, and it is more than a little hard to focus on DCFs and IRRs when a duo of strapping German lads in Speedos comes bounding in along with their manservant, who is carrying a crow.

So I pry myself from the meeting just in time to man the camera for the historic interview.

As we wrap, I step out into the hall to find a gentleman with a clipboard and a badge approaching the door. Can I help him?

He introduces himself as a representative of the county tax assessor's office, just as Lazer pushes past us, mumbling in broken English about how cool it is that there is now a news service for winged equines, and how proud they are to be a part of it.

The assessor looks at me over his glasses. "Exactly, WHAT business did you say you were in, sir?"

I didn't. And I can't wait for our tax bill.
