The land of Nod

Kathy Sierra, one of my favorite bloggers (@ Creating Passionate Users), has been on hiatus for awhile, but she returns with a great post on "inspiring the nod":
To give The Nod is to recognize and appreciate another person who "gets it", whatever it is. The Nod is NOT simply a "you have something I have" look. I don't get The Nod when I wear, say, my standard-issue Nike Air trainers. But I DO get it when my SmartWool socks are spotted by another SmartWool fan. I never got The Nod using a Pentax point-and-shoot, but when I pulled out my new Nikon D200 on a train, another D200 owner on the train not only gave me The Nod, but greeted me like a long lost friend. I don't get The Nod when I wear a plain white T-Shirt. But slap a Parelli logo on the shirt and I get The Nod from other like-minded horse owners.
Some of the biggest thrills I've gotten since we relaunched TexasGigs have been walking into places (many non-musical) and getting "the nod" when people saw my TexasGigs shirt. Even better was getting it in a coffee shop when someone saw me on my computer using TexasGigs.
Does your product inspire the nod?

Yes, my product inspires random fans to send me cool stuff in the mail, and attractive exotic women to attempt to remove my product-branded t-shirt from my body, leaving me topless and flattered!
Is this like one of those things where someone in the same car as you pulls up next to you, and all of a sudden, it's like you two have some kind of bond?

Seems that the In-N-Out burger T-shirt is the ultimate nod getter...well, it's more like "Hey! In-N-Out!" (uttered in your best Jeff Spicoli voice) than an actual nod.
