MySpace falling?

From the indispensible (to media junkies) Publishing 2.0 blog:
...Two key MySpace vulnerabilities (among many): 1. When a fad becomes overhyped, teens will eventually retreat 2. Most teens know that MySpace isn’t entirely safe
Heh.
I'd add:
3. The damn thing is broke half the time and I'm tired of looking at seconds-past-puberty gals in those True ads.

I only wish myspace wouldn't crash my browser (firefox) every time I visit there. Is that too much to ask?

I'm with Magnus, but only because the ultra-"pimped out" pages freeze my computer. Ok, so I have dial-up. So sue me.

I've got 2 teenagers at home and usually a houseful of their friends who all claim to "hate MySpace." I think the novelty will eventually fade...thank goodness.
On another note - that little panel of teens had a blurb that caught my eye:
"One of the teens made $50K last year playing online poker⦠and over $100K this year. He considers it his job, and the $300/hr that he makes beats any other employment available to him now. He listens to music and multitasks while âworkingâ.
Me thinks me protest too much when http://www.thefatguy.com wants to play poker...

Teenagers are fickle? Who knew?
PS The year I make $100K playing poker is the year I quit playing poker.

really, do bands with any artistic integrity need to pander to the pampers set? you have your artist's collective platform in various settings within your own community. if your intent is national exposure, then gawd, try and be hip about it!!! myspace definitely is'nt where it's at.

So Strident, what is the alternative to MySpace? Moreover, what is comparable in size and scope?

so stevens, an alternative to mcmyspace? Hmmm... jeez, you're right, certainly the internet has no realistic options in the face of the all encompassing mcmyspace. oh dear, the fate that has befallen us. i can't look... i can't look!!!
