Bits of Bark’s Bytes

Today seems to be a big day of welcoming new content partners. Alan ushered in the folks from Slacker Country -- now I welcome Ed Bark.
Starting today, we're going to run Ed's daily analysis of local Nielsen ratings. It's just one tiny piece of what you can find on his site, Uncle Barky's Bytes.
In case you don't know already, Ed was the TV critic for the Dallas Morning News for the last 26 years. He's one of the most respected people in that particular biz. Unfortunately, since early 2000, he had been forbidden to write about local television news. A few weeks ago, he left the DMN as part of the "voluntary buyout" that trimmed the newsroom there by 111 heads.
Even though we've never met, I'm a longtime fan of "Uncle Barky." I've always enjoyed his writing, but when he responded candidly to The Frontburner on the local coverage ban before the buyout, I knew I really liked the cut of his jib.
So, approximately .0002 seconds after I learned Ed had launched his own site, I started lobbying him to partner with us. Apparently worn out from a couple weeks of gentle harassment, Ed has agreed to let us pick up his ratings analysis.
Be sure not to stop with the ratings, though: Clicking on to Ed's site will get you to his network news and reviews; his Fall TV preview; and lots more on DFW TV. Right now he's got a profile on WFAA's Shelly Slater, who he thinks is a fast-rising star in the making. He also apparently got a special non-sucky version of this weekend's SNL premiere that I was denied on my feed.
So, a hearty welcome to Ed and to our friends at Slacker Country. This is a big tent, and as we move towards the launch of the full Pegasus News site, it's just going to get bigger (and better).

Bark is yet another one of the really good writers that the News seemed to always have around (Gary West was another) yet quietly ignore. I read & enjoyed him since he got there until...well, until I quit buying the DMN some 10 years ago. Sorry, Ed, and congrats to PN for bullying him into doing something with yall. Consider this a vote for more of Ed, too.
