Johnny Lloyd Rollins live videos

The One That's Not About Music

Published: October 18, 2006

I just started listenting to the new Johnny Lloyd Rollins' disc Let's be Poor Together while working the second shift tonight. I'll be writing our review on it, and I need to live with it a few more days before I can do that. Short answer is that I really like it; long answer is I don't yet know exactly why. There's a definite Beatles influence worn on the sleeve -- but I've never been a Beatles man...

So, while I cogitate and try to turn the positive brain chemicals into words, here's some JLR live performance to whet your appetite.

The first video is of Johnny and the All-Nighters playing "Miss Sugar Pie" at The Cavern Club in Liverpool.

And the second is interview and performance of the album's title track from something called The David Frost Show. No, not this David Frost.

I wish it had been David Frost, pro golfer and South African wine maker

As the Beatles>Stones guy in the office, I have to agree with you on the assessment . . . and obviously I like the CD as well. This CD, the new one from Jayson Bales -- it's been a good week for new releases by local artists.

Nice! Im the guy in the back playing drums. Although I played with Johnny in the past. I never really was able to see the footage. It was kept from me... ;)

Yeah those are some cool videos - they've been on Johnny's page for a couple of months now, for all of myspace-dom's enjoyment! Glad you were turned on to 'em, Mike - Has anyone mentioned on here that Alan is a guest musician on Johnny's new album?

Nope. But I'm doing so in my review, which I'll post as soon as I stop procrastinating by replying to Indiekitten's comments ;)

Appreciate it indiekitten, but in addition to Johnny, the only people that really deserve mention are Eric, Joey, and John who played major roles in making Johnny's vision for this album come to life. Oh and of course Pleasantry Lane Studios absolutely deserves mention - they do an incredible job over there.

Dude, Alan - whatever - Johnny said you completely gave the song what it needed - great job! It does sound pretty awesome - I'm loving my copy, and my roommate (Matt from Red Monroe) keeps pestering me to let him have it for awhile!

oh, and p.s. - I deserve mention for supplying the slurpees, forties, and ice cream sandwiches for the recording sessions!

Another one I stumbled on via Google-- "Miss Sugar Pie"

Funny how YouTube vids have jumped in Google results since that sale went down.
