The only nice thing I’ll ever say about Coldplay

Posted By Mike Orren in Square Pegs on December 16, 2006

This is from a BBC documentary on a New England seniors choir that sings modern rock and punk tunes.

Says the poster of the video:

This is from a documentary shown on Channel 4 in the UK called 'Young@Heart'; the name of the New England octogenarian chorus line. The performer here is Fred Mittle, who suffers from congestive heart failure. This song was intended to be a duet between Fred and another chorus member, Bob Salvini. Sadly, Bob died of a heart attack and it was left to Fred to carry the song on his own. If I'm correct, the people you see crying at 01:13 are Bob's family. The lady you occasionally see mouthing the lyrics in the audience is Fred's wife.

It's an amazing performance:

I found this via Very Short List, which is like Daily Candy with 30% less estrogen. First new e-newsletter I've subscribed to in years, and only partly because of their masterful overuse of Venn diagrams.

NateDawgUNT, says:

Yeah, this is pretty good...but it's no Roye'l. By the way, this site is genius. It's kinda like DMN but if it were written by my fraternity brothers. Is Great Success!
