What’s missing from local news?

In its continued attempt to masquerade as a local news site, news aggregator Topix sent an interviewer to ask San Franciscans what is missing from local news. I hope you find many of the features mentioned -- bringing together disparate sources, relevance, quick feedback, investigation and "the out of the ordinary" -- here at Pegasus News.
Here's the video:
So, what is missing in local news in DFW? What are we missing that you want?

DC says:
Oh, the less we know about foreign currencies, politics, and anything else, the happier we are to drive on Leppert's freeways while burning Hunt oil and driving to our condos at Perot Park. Probably best to keep us worried about appetizers than actual news.

If you're looking for a killer app, and I think you are, youth sports would have to be it.
You only need to find a way to get school-age kids to do the reporting for you. For free, of course. Maybe coordination with the schools? For extra course credit?

Yes, great idea. Better to distract everyone from the real world with children's hopscotch meets than challenge us with actual reality.
Thanks

I say go just over-the-top. I don't want to know about Carroll football, or local elections...give me world conspiracies. I say run weekly with lake monster sightings & updates on the whereabouts of the Mothman while he's visiting Reunion Tower. Bliss.

Jim:
You're absolutely right-- that's in the plan and something we hope to roll out late summer. Like everything else we do, we think that the user-submitted info is the holy grail, if you depend on it exclusively, you get a ghost town and frustrated users.
Sports, in general, is an area where we think we have huge and untapped potential. When we launched, Football season was mostly done and Basketball was on its last leg, so we did the bare minimum, but by our standards our current sports section is the most half-assed thing we're doing. That's a top priority for us over the summer.
DC: We think there's room for both hopscotch and the darker realities -- so long as they're local. To people who are engaged in either/both, there's not enough good information out there.

Mike,
That ghost town link is quite funny in a really, really sad way. Think of all the creative programming talent that was wasted.
That should be required viewing for every techno-wiz-kid who thinks he can get rich on his application without a good marketing plan.

Ok, ok, I'll stop ranting (except about the Damp). I'll be happy with the hopscotch - as long as it's cage match death rattle hopscotch at City Hall!
