Threat to lives and property!

Posted By Blair Lovern in Square Pegs on February 23, 2007

As pointed out by officemate Chris C., below is a scary looking map from accuweather.com. Why aren't DFW meteorologists freaking out over this brewing storm instead of the times when there was a possible possibility of 0.000000000000001 inches of snow?

Joni, says:

Maybe they fear being the laughing stock of meteorology AGAIN!

Back east that 'ice/sleet' storm would have been just a precaution to driving whereas here in Dallas? It became an all day frenzy of televised sleet falling with cars sliding on the sand! (Back east they use ice melt, not sand)

And my weatherbug is sufficient enough thank you. Tonights tornado/high winds torrential downpours/loss of life and limb are all duly noted, thank you. ~joni

John Meyer, says:

Here in Old Lake Highlands the driveway was moist (barely) when I woke up this morning.

Checked the radar to find that the spotty string of showers was in the process of moving off to the east, nevermore to make an appearance in these precincts.

For weather prediction, I'm going back to the stick I nailed to the old hackberry out back: if it's wet, I predict rain. If it blows away, I predict high winds.

If I can't find the old hackberry out back, then either I've had a really fun time the previous evening, or the sh*t's hit the fan and the forecast don't matter.
