STOP THE PRESSES! It might be cold six days from now
Posted By Blair Lovern in Square Pegs on January 8, 2007

DMN and S-T have front page web stories as I type this about how it's going to be chilly this weekend. Er wait, not Saturday. That day might be warm. Maybe Sunday it will get cold.
From the S-T:
"Rain is less likely by the time the cold weather arrives this weekend, but (meteorologist Chris) McKinney said it's too early to predict."
Gee, no kidding?
I'm thinking of a weather event, maybe starts with an T? Anyone? T? How about an R? Rain or something? Yes? I'm seeing rain in the forecast sometime in the future. Someone is telling me it's going to rain sometime this year? It is going to be cold at some point. I'm seeing cold. Very cold. January means cold, I believe. I see jackets. Someone here is going to wear a jacket. Anyone have a jacket?

I, for one, don't trust any weather report that didn't originate from some sort of farm animal with a name chock full of alliteration.

"Weather event": one of the more ridiculous phrases to have entered the English language, followed by the sub-levels of "rain event," etc.
