The best band marketing ever

Since our original core of readers started with local bands, I still like to call attention to trends/ideas in the music biz:
Nine Inch Nails' guerrilla marketing campaign for their upcoming album is unbelievable: Hidden messages on t-shirts. Dummy websites filled with clues. USB drives with unprotected versions of the songs hidden in the bathroom at concerts.
Now you probably have to already be a pretty sought-after band for this sort of thing to work. And of course after a few copycats, this thing may get a little passe'. But there are some really clever ideas here.

Year Zero is awesome. It's got a real classic NIN sound to it, going way back to Closer at points. The beats are simple but catchy. You can search online for a faux underground rebellion rally-turned unexpected NIN abandoned warehouse concert. Art is Resistance! Now all we need is RATM to come back full-force to return to 1995.

It does sound hipper than the proverbial "street team." The again, what doesn't.

I've just been presented with a new contender for the title I bestowed in this post:
