UPDATED: Albrecht benefit video on the way…

Square Pegs

Published: October 23, 2007

Since I've gotten a couple inquiries this morning:

The video from the Carter Albrecht Foundation benefit is coming ASAP. The good folks at Dallas iMedia are busting tail to get everything edited and encoded into a format that will look and sound great but not break the Internets when you try to download it. They've been hard at it since yesterday morning and we expect it to be here very soon. Watch this space...

To tide you over, here's a flickr slideshow of pictures from the event.

Update 3:30 PM: Looking like tomorrow afternoon at this point. They're working hard and we'll post as soon as the disc hits our door...

Thanks to Pegasus and Imedia. This is how it should be done...not like Bend Studios who doubled the price of their Carter cd's after he passed.

On my way to iMedia now to get the 50 GB worth of files (drooling). Will start uploading tonight...

Bend Studio CDs have always been $20. Even if you get them the day of the show.

At iMedia now and getting the vids. I just got a preview, and -- wow. The iMedia folk did an amazing job.

So, while we watch the blue bar crawl across the screen, lemme 'splain how this is going to work.

For each artists' set, we're going to post three files to choose from:

  • Full, unfettered hi-res glory at up to 10GB per. Only for those with high bandwidth who want to burn their own DVDs or store on big hard drives.
  • A good, medium-res file you can watch on your computer or even your TV comfortably.
  • An Ipod version

We'll post each set in each format as they become available, so if your favorite doesn't show up immediately in your preferred format, check back.

I'm also thinking of editing together a set of just the Carter covers across all the bands. Other suggestions are welcome.

And we'll provide embeddable versions of some of the high points too.

I'll start uploading tonight. You should see some progress by tomorrow.

actually that is not true. A number of the discs that they sell- terrible and sound and all- have sold at 10 dollars. Interestingly enough, posters of shows Carter was affiliated with went up in price as well.

The wait is agonizing! Since returning to Fl after the show I have been raving about the performances of The Slack and Sorta. Soon, I can show them! Thanks Mike....

OK-- A zillion apologies for the delays. We've learned a lot about video encoding the last couple days. They'll be coming fast and furious here over the next 12-24:

But fair warning. Anything you DL now should be OK, but the versions of even the current vids posted will be more efficient (quality vs size) by the wee hours of Friday AM.

Really do feel bad it's taken so long. Here's a peace offering for the time being:

Mike Something is up with the Sorta video. I think that there is a technical difficulty. Can you take a peek when time permits? Thanks again for the hours of work

Can you give me more info? Is the problem before or after you download?

Be sure you right click and save to your hard drive. That file would take a reeeeallly long time to load in your browser.
